Former Super Eagles coach, Festus Adegboye Onigbinde, has sadly passed away at the age of 88. He led the team to the 2002 FIFA World Cup and was a pioneer of indigenous coaching in Nigerian football. Onigbinde was also a silver medalist at the 1984 Africa Cup of Nations and played a significant role in promoting locally trained coaches.

Tributes have poured in, highlighting his contributions to Nigerian football, including discovering talent and mentoring players on the international stage. He was a respected voice in African football, serving as a technical instructor for CAF and FIFA.
