The Labour Party has fixed Saturday, May 30, 2026, as the new date for all its primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The adjustment covers primaries for presidential, governorship, senate, House of Representatives, and state assembly positions. National Publicity Secretary Ken Eluma Asogwa announced the change in a statement released Thursday.

Under the new schedule, all categories of primaries will be conducted on the same day. The party said the rescheduling was done to accommodate the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration and the third anniversary of the inauguration of current public office holders nationwide.

The Labour Party noted that the decision was made to ensure members and supporters could fully observe both events. It apologized for any inconvenience the change might cause aspirants and stakeholders.
