Former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso says the 2027 elections offer Nigerians a chance to reset the country’s direction, as he and Peter Obi begin campaigning under the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.

In a statement released as campaigns officially opened, Kwankwaso said the ticket is focused on tackling the rising cost of living, unemployment, insecurity and the challenges facing businesses across the country.

Kwankwaso described the current moment as a turning point for the nation.

“Nigeria stands at a critical crossroads,”he said. “Families are under pressure from rising food prices and the cost of essentials. Millions of young people are still looking for jobs and real opportunities.”

He also flagged insecurity as a major concern, citing terrorism, banditry and kidnapping as threats that have destroyed lives, homes and livelihoods.

The former governor said Nigerians deserve to farm safely, send children to secure schools, and live without fear.

He called for increased investment in education, healthcare and infrastructure, as well as stronger institutions and greater accountability in how public funds are managed.

Kwankwaso acknowledged Nigeria’s potential, saying the country has both the human and natural resources to thrive, but needs leadership that prioritizes citizens.

On his alliance with Peter Obi, Kwankwaso said the partnership is not driven by region, religion or personal interest.

“Our partnership is not about region, religion or personal ambition. It is about Nigeria,” he stated.

He urged young people, women, workers, farmers and professionals to get involved in politics and focus on issues that affect everyday life, rather than divisive narratives.

Kwankwaso also called for peaceful campaigns and asked Nigerians to support the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket and other NDC candidates.

“The 2027 election presents Nigerians with an opportunity to choose a new direction,”he said.
