Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo has reclaimed the half-marathon world record with a stunning 57:20 finish at the EDP Lisbon Half Marathon, shaving 10 seconds off the previous record set by Ethiopia’s Yomif Kejelcha in 2024. Kiplimo, 25, had previously set the record in Lisbon in 2021 with a time of 57:31, before Kejelcha took it over in Valencia last year.

Kiplimo accelerated at 15km, covering the next 5km in 13:31, and maintained the pace to finish with a world record time.

In the women’s race, Ethiopia’s Tsige Gebreselama retained her title with a time of 1:04:48.
