Acting on credible intelligence, troops in close synergy with police personnel and local vigilantes launched a coordinated pursuit of the fleeing criminals into their hideout in Esan Local Government Area.

Upon contact, the joint security team engaged the criminals in a fierce firefight, leading to the neutralization of two terrorists. The sustained pressure forced the remaining gang members to abandon their captives and flee.

Consequently, three abducted victims were rescued unhurt.

Items recovered during the operation include:

– 3 AK-47 rifles

– 39 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition

– 3 mobile phones

The recovered items are in custody, while efforts are ongoing to track and apprehend the fleeing members of the syndicate.

The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to working with sister security agencies and stakeholders to decisively deal with criminal elements and ensure the protection of lives and property. It also urged the public to support operations with credible information on criminal hideouts and collaborators.
