The Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, on Monday gave a statement to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, in connection with the ongoing investigation into the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, PFIPC.

The ICPC, in a statement by its media team, said Gbajabiamila visited the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja and was not arrested.

According to the Commission, the visit was at the invitation of its investigators and part of efforts to gather all relevant facts in the matter.

The probe follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive to the ICPC to investigate how PFIPC, an entity later disowned by the Presidency as fraudulent, operated from the Federal Secretariat in Abuja for about two years.

The Council was allegedly run by one Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, who paraded himself as its Director-General.

The ICPC said the Chief of Staff willingly honoured the invitation and made a statement to assist with the investigation.
