The Federal Government has proposed a coordinated examination schedule for 2027, with the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) expected to take place in March and results of major secondary school examinations targeted for release by August.

The proposed arrangement is intended to give eligible candidates sufficient time to complete their admission processes into tertiary institutions from September 2027.
Under the plan, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) UTME is scheduled to hold from March 15 to 25, 2027.
The National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examination is proposed for April 1 to May 14, while the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) examination is expected to run from May 11 to June 18.
The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) examination is scheduled for June 1 to July 5, while examinations conducted by the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) are proposed for June 10 to July 9.
The Federal Ministry of Education said the harmonisation initiative is designed to improve coordination among examination bodies, reduce timetable conflicts and speed up the processing and release of results.
According to the ministry, aligning the examination calendar with result release schedules would help candidates meet tertiary admission requirements without unnecessary delays.
The government also plans to continue engaging the examination bodies to improve coordination and ensure that the proposed timelines are followed.
However, the ministry clarified that the dates remain proposed schedules and are subject to confirmation by the respective examination bodies. Candidates have therefore been advised to monitor official announcements for updates on the final timetables.
