Security personnel have arrested an elderly man suspected of ferrying ammunition to bandits operating in the Bagega forest in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Intelligence sources disclosed to Zagazola Makama that the suspect was picked up along the Anka–Bagega road during a routine patrol.

According to the sources, the man was stopped while trying to gain entry into Bagega town with a cache of ammunition believed to be headed for armed criminals camped in the forest nearby.

Authorities said investigations are ongoing to trace the origin of the ammunition and identify possible collaborators.
