Corps members deployed to Ebonyi State will now receive an extra N30,000 monthly stipend from the state government, in addition to their federal allowance.

Governor Francis Nwifuru announced the new welfare package on Saturday during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 Batch B Stream II corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Afikpo.
According to the Governor, the gesture is part of efforts to cushion the economic challenges faced by corps members as they carry out their national service across different parts of the state.
“The additional support is to ensure that you serve in comfort, focus on your assignments, and contribute meaningfully to the development of Ebonyi State and Nigeria at large,” Nwifuru said.
The announcement was met with cheers from the corps members, who described it as a morale booster. Several of them said the extra N30,000 would go a long way in improving their standard of living, covering transportation, feeding and other basic needs during the service year.
The NYSC State Coordinator commended the Governor for prioritizing the welfare of corps members, noting that Ebonyi is now among the few states offering additional financial support to youth corps members.
