Lagos State lawmaker Desmond Elliot has withdrawn from the All Progressives Congress primary for the Surulere 1 constituency seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

The actor-turned-politician announced his decision in a statement, alleging that his supporters faced intimidation during the lead-up to the primary election. He said the development compromised the fairness of the process and left him with no choice but to step down.
Elliot, who currently represents Surulere 1, had been seeking a return ticket to the House. He thanked his constituents for their backing over the years but stressed that the safety and freedom of his supporters could not be jeopardized.
The APC primary in Surulere 1 was part of the party’s wider exercise to pick candidates for the Lagos State House of Assembly ahead of upcoming elections.
