A devastating building collapse in Tripoli, Lebanon’s northern city, has resulted in at least six deaths and seven injuries, with rescue teams searching for people trapped under the rubble. The collapse occurred in the Bab al-Tabbaneh neighborhood, and residents, along with rescue workers, are working to remove debris and find survivors.

According to reports, the Lebanese President, Joseph Aoun, has ordered emergency services to assist in rescue operations and provide shelter for nearby residents. Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has promised housing allowances for evacuated residents and urged politicians to avoid exploiting the disaster for political gain.

 The Lebanese Civil Defence has recovered the body of a female nurse, Alissar Al Mir, bringing the total number of confirmed fatalities to six. Rescue efforts are ongoing, with teams working to remove rubble and search for survivors.

The incident highlights concerns over Lebanon’s aging infrastructure, with many buildings suffering from neglect, economic collapse, and corruption. The government has launched an investigation into the cause of the collapse.
