A senior civil servant from Bauchi State has died in Saudi Arabia while performing the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage. 

The official, who served as a permanent secretary in the state’s civil service, reportedly passed away during the religious exercise in the holy land. State officials are yet to release further details on the cause of death and burial arrangements.

The incident occurred as thousands of Nigerian pilgrims join millions of Muslims worldwide for this year’s Hajj. Bauchi State officials are expected to issue a formal statement and inform the family of the deceased.

The state government has not yet commented publicly on the incident.
