Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi have formally joined the 2027 presidential contest on the African Democratic Congress platform after filing their expression of interest and nomination forms.

Both men submitted the documents at the party’s Abuja headquarters on May 14, 2026. Atiku posted on X that the step marked a firm move toward a broader push to bring hope and economic recovery to Nigeria, calling on citizens from all backgrounds to back the effort.

Amaechi also confirmed his entry into the race online, saying his goal is to help restore Nigeria’s standing and deliver unity, peace and progress. He stressed that voters should focus on competence and track record when choosing the next president.

The submissions drew large crowds to the ADC secretariat, with supporters overwhelming security at the entrance and causing brief disruption. The party had priced the presidential form at ₦90 million, with sales open from May 6 to May 13.

Party officials say businessman Mohammed Hayatu-Deen has also obtained the ADC presidential form.
