The Nigerian Army has arrested Staff Sgt. Amoke Simon for allegedly defrauding the Abia State Government of N114 million by falsely claiming to be part of the operation that killed notorious kidnap kingpin Obioma Nwankwo, aka “Osisikankwu”. Simon, a member of the Nigerian Army Engineers Corps, was arrested at Port Harcourt International Airport while trying to flee to Abuja. Investigations revealed he didn’t participate in the 2010 operation that neutralized Osisikankwu, and his claims are being investigated by the EFCC for multiple fraud allegations.

Interestingly, there’s another account of a soldier named Amoke Gunshot Simeon, who actually led the operation that captured Osisikankwu and was rewarded by Abia State Governor Alex Otti for his bravery.
