The All Progressives Congress, APC, has recorded a clean sweep in Ebonyi State’s local government elections, winning all 13 chairmanship seats and all 171 councillorship positions.
The Chairman of the Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission, EBSIEC, Barr. Enyi Patrick, announced the results on Sunday after Saturday’s polls across the state.
Patrick said the exercise was conducted peacefully in all 13 LGAs and 171 political wards, with no major incident reported.
He noted that voter turnout was impressive and commended residents for coming out to exercise their civic duty.
Governor Francis Nwifuru, who voted at Polling Unit 002, Edupfu Okemini, Oferekpe Agbaja in Izzi LGA, praised EBSIEC for maintaining order and ensuring a smooth process.
The governor also applauded the peaceful conduct of the election and the level of participation recorded across the state.
Stakeholders and other political leaders across Ebonyi also commended the commission and residents for the orderly manner the polls were conducted.
