Major defections from prominent parties in Akwa Ibom and Kaduna states are set to boost the African Democratic Congress’s (ADC) prospects in the 2027 general elections. All 31 Labour Party chairmen in Akwa Ibom have switched allegiance to the ADC, drawn by Peter Obi’s leadership and vision.

The move, announced at a ceremony in Uyo, underscores Obi’s enduring influence. Meanwhile, in Kaduna’s Lere Local Government Area, over 23,000 members from the APC, PDP, and LP have joined the ADC, marking a significant shift in the region’s political dynamics.

The defectors were received by ADC officials, including Coalition Co-Chairman Bashir Saidu and National Vice Chairman Ja’afar Sani, who praised the move as a historic development for the party.
