The FCT Police Command has seized more than 30 vehicles in Abuja for operating with unauthorized window tints, hidden number plates, and incomplete registration. The crackdown kicked off Friday as part of renewed enforcement across the territory.

Commissioner of Police Ahmed Sanusi said the operation follows directives from Inspector-General Olatunji Disu to curb how criminals use such vehicles for one-chance robberies, abductions, and other offenses. Security reports show offenders rely on tinted glass and covered plates to conceal identities and dodge police detection.

Sanusi stressed that the exercise targets only violators. Motorists with proper approval for tinted vehicles will not be affected, he added. The goal is to cut off cover used by suspects while protecting residents.

Those whose vehicles were impounded risk prosecution under federal law and the FCT Road Transport Regulations 2023. The police chief called on residents to support the operation and alert authorities to suspicious cars or movements.
