The Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions has turned down a 30% package presented by the Federal Government, saying it falls short of members’ expectations.

The union said the offer does not resolve key issues, including earned allowances, improved conditions of service, and the implementation of past agreements. NASU leaders warned that if the government fails to return with a better deal, a total nationwide strike will commence on May 1.
According to the union, the planned action will affect universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and research institutes, with non-teaching staff withdrawing services across all units. They added that the strike notice has already been communicated to relevant authorities and affiliate branches are mobilizing members.
The Federal Government had tabled the 30% proposal during recent negotiations aimed at averting disruption in the education sector. Talks between both sides are expected to continue before the deadline.
