Operatives of the Abia State Police Command have rescued two children and arrested three women in connection with an alleged child abduction incident in the state.

The operation was carried out after intelligence led officers to a location where the minors were being held. According to the command, the children were found unharmed and have since been placed in protective custody pending further action. The three suspects are being questioned as investigators work to establish how the children were taken and whether others are involved.

Police say the arrests are part of ongoing efforts to tackle child trafficking, illegal movement of minors, and related offences across Abia. The command has been ramping up surveillance and rapid response operations in recent months, following reports of increased attempts to move children out of the state without proper documentation.
Authorities confirmed that the case remains under investigation and more details will be released once initial findings are complete. They also urged members of the public to report suspicious movements of children to the nearest police station.
Child trafficking and abduction remain a concern in several parts of Nigeria, with security agencies collaborating with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons to prosecute offenders and reunite victims with their families.
