FIFA has announced that Shakira, Madonna, and BTS will headline the first halftime show in World Cup final history. The performance is scheduled for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin is curating the show, which is being produced with Global Citizen to support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. The fund targets $100 million to improve access to education and football for children globally. FIFA confirmed that $1 from every match ticket sold during the tournament will go toward the initiative.
The reveal came through a video featuring Martin with Sesame Street and Muppets characters, including Elmo, Kermit, and Miss Piggy. BTS also made a brief appearance.
Shakira said she’ll perform the official tournament track Dai Dai, a collaboration with Burna Boy. Madonna described the event as “deeply meaningful,” while BTS noted they’re honored to use music to back children’s education.
This is the first time the World Cup final will include a halftime show. The format was trialed during the 2025 Club World Cup final at the same stadium. The 2026 World Cup begins June 11 across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, featuring 48 teams and 104 matches.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino said the show will be “a historic moment for the FIFA World Cup and a performance worthy of the world’s biggest sporting event.”
