The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, will publish an updated list of candidates for the 2027 general elections after concluding its review process.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan (SAN), disclosed this on Tuesday in Gombe while speaking with journalists on the sidelines of an interactive session with staff of the Commission from the North-East zone.
According to Amupitan, the review became necessary following complaints received by the Commission after the initial publication, including misspelling of candidates’ names and cases of double nominations.
He explained that INEC decided to allow the maximum 14-day period for the review before making the updated list public.
“As you know, usually, in any list published, there could be errors here and there, and there have been complaints of misspelling of names. We have also received complaints of double nominations,” Amupitan said.
“We decided to allow a maximum period of 14 days. Any moment from now, we will make the review public, and the list will be released,” he added.
The disclosure comes as INEC continues preparations for the 2027 general elections, with efforts to ensure accuracy of candidates’ information ahead of the polls.
