Operatives of the STS-FID have arrested three suspects in Nasarawa State over a shocking case of alleged organ harvesting and human trafficking. The arrests were carried out on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at about 6pm in Auta Balefi, Karu Local Government Area of the state.

Those in custody include 23-year-old Emmanuel Ode, who is said to be a resident of Auta Balefi. The other two are medical doctors. The first is 48-year-old Dr. Benjamin Oyime, a nephrologist and consultant with Wellington Hospital. The second is Dr. Daniel Otokpa, also a nephrologist and reportedly the second-in-command at the same hospital in Abuja.

According to preliminary findings from the investigating authorities, the case began after a complaint was filed by 47-year-old Mrs. Julian Abot. During questioning, one of the suspects, Emmanuel Ode, allegedly confessed to playing a key role in facilitating the illegal removal of a kidney from a 22-year-old man identified as Samuel Ezekiel.

Investigators allege that on April 24, 2026, Ode took the victim to Wellington Hospital located in Life Camp, Abuja for the procedure. The agreement was reportedly for the sum of N1.7 million. Authorities further claim that in order to cover their tracks, the victim was manipulated into signing consent documents under a different identity. The name used on the documents was Isa Abubakar.

All three suspects are currently being held as operatives continue with further investigations into the matter. The case has raised serious concerns about medical ethics and the growing reports of organ trafficking.
