Two people were killed and five others injured when violence broke out during the All Progressives Congress (APC) ward congress in Idanre, Ondo State. The incident occurred at Odode-Idanre, the headquarters of Idanre Local Government Area, where the party was conducting congresses across 203 wards. The violence followed Tuesday’s disruption of a stakeholders’ meeting at the APC secretariat in Akure, where party leaders were assaulted.

Raphael Adetimehin, younger brother of APC State Caretaker Chairman Ade Adetimehin, was among those attacked. His vehicle was set ablaze, and he sustained machete wounds. Ade Adetimehin alleged the attack was politically motivated, targeting his brother due to their resemblance.

The police confirmed the incident, stating five people were attacked and a vehicle was set ablaze. Three victims are receiving medical attention, while two others were confirmed dead. The Commissioner of Police and NSCDC commandant led a joint security team to restore order, and investigations are ongoing.
