Security personnel from 17 Brigade and the Katsina State Community Watch Corps have reported the killing of two suspected terrorists and the rescue of 32 kidnapped victims during an operation in Matazu Local Government Area.

According to security sources cited by Zagazola Makama, the mission was the second phase of clearance efforts aimed at a criminal enclave linked to a known kingpin, Muhammadu Filani, whose activities have affected Musawa, Matazu, and Kankia LGAs.

The sources said troops moved into a hideout on the outskirts of Dikawa village in Matazu LGA on May 8. The team came under fire from armed individuals positioned behind rocky terrain, leading to an exchange. 

Weapons, ammunition, and 10 motorcycles were also said to have been recovered during the operation.
