Troops stationed at 9th Mile in Enugu State rescued five kidnapped victims after foiling an attack on commuters by suspected armed criminals on February 20. The attackers had targeted travellers heading towards Anambra State, but the troops responded swiftly to a distress call and engaged the assailants in a gun duel.

The attackers fled, abandoning their victims, and the troops recovered the vehicle used by the victims. The operation involved 11 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

Security authorities have intensified patrols in the area to prevent further attacks, with surveillance and domination patrols ongoing. The situation is under control, according to reports.
