Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA have launched a series of coordinated clearance operations against terrorist hideouts in Zamfara State as part of ongoing efforts to restore security.

The operation began in the early hours of May 4, 2026, targeting several villages including Maikwanuga in Talata Mafara LGA, and Aljumma, Gidan Dawa, Magami Didi and Tungar Magaji in Maradun LGA.

During the advance, troops engaged terrorists in Tungar Magaji with superior firepower. Two terrorists were neutralized while others fled the area. A follow-up search led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle loaded with a 30-round magazine and one motorcycle.

The operation is part of a sustained campaign to dismantle terrorist enclaves within the Bagega–Sunke forest corridor and improve safety for local communities.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA said it remains committed to protecting lives and property and will continue offensive actions against terrorist groups in its area of responsibility. The public has been urged to provide timely and credible information to support security operations.
