Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have rescued two civilians held captive for months and eliminated one terrorist during renewed operations in the North East. The rescues and strike were carried out in Borno State.

The victims, Maryam Muhammad, 20, and her 16-month-old son Bello Muhammad, were among residents abducted from Ngoshe community on March 3, 2026. Security forces located them in the Amuda area of the Mandara Mountains after mounting sustained pressure on insurgent hideouts. The intense military push forced the captors to abandon the mother and child before fleeing.
In a separate operation covering Wulgo, Gumsari and Hausari communities, soldiers engaged insurgents and neutralized one fighter. During the raid, troops recovered ammunition, medical items and a uniform belonging to a terrorist Amir, indicating a senior cadre was present.
Military authorities said the operations reflect intensified efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and secure communities still under threat in the region. The rescued civilians are receiving medical attention and support before being reunited with their families.
