Troops have overpowered terrorists and rescued four kidnapped victims during an operation along the Kebbi-Sokoto border, security sources confirmed.

The victims were reportedly freed after soldiers engaged the terrorists in a firefight and forced them to abandon their captives.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to clear bandit and terrorist enclaves across the North-West. The military has in recent months intensified patrols, ambushes and rescue missions in Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara and Katsina.

Authorities said the rescued persons are receiving medical attention and will be reunited with their families.
