Mohammed Idris, the Nigeria Minister of Information and National Orientation, has stated that President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms rescued 27 states from financial collapse. Speaking at the 34th convocation of the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna, Idris said Tinubu’s administration inherited a challenging economic situation, with many states struggling to pay salaries.

“The reforms introduced by President Tinubu have stabilized state finances,” Idris said. “States are now earning triple their previous revenue, enabling them to clear salary arrears, fund infrastructure projects, and deliver benefits to citizens.”
Idris emphasized that continuous reforms are crucial for nation-building, saying, “There’s no development without reform. If you stop reforming, you stop progressing.” He added that the reforms have created opportunities for Nigerian youths, urging them to seize the emerging prospects.
