TINUBU SUSPENDS NIGERIA AIRPORTS CASHLESS POLICY DUE TO CHAOS.

Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has ordered an immediate halt to the cashless payment policy at airports, just four days after its introduction, due to widespread disruptions. The policy, launched on March 1, mandated electronic payments for airport access, parking, and lounges, but it led to massive congestion and passengers missing flights at major airports like Murtala Muhammed International Airport and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo announced a temporary shift to a hybrid system, allowing cash payments and prepaid FAAN cards, pending a review of the policy. The President has directed a swift review to restore efficiency and minimize disruptions at airport entry points.

The suspension highlights concerns about the policy’s implementation and its impact on travelers. With the hybrid system in place, airports are expected to return to normalcy soon.
