President Bola Tinubu has nominated Taiwo Oyedele, the head of Nigeria’s tax reform committee, as the new Minister of State for Finance, replacing Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite. Oyedele’s nomination is a result of his work on revamping the country’s tax framework, aiming to strengthen economic policies amid ongoing fiscal challenges.

Oyedele, 50, is an economist, accountant, and public policy expert with over 22 years of experience at PwC, where he rose to become Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader. He has also served as a professor at Babcock University and a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.
The nomination is part of Tinubu’s efforts to deepen fiscal reforms and strengthen economic governance. Oyedele’s expertise is expected to contribute to the implementation of tax reforms and improve revenue generation
