President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged as the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate for the 2027 election after a sweeping win in the party’s primary.

The exercise took place on Saturday, May 24, 2026, across 8,809 wards in all 774 LGAs. Tinubu ran against sole challenger Stanley Osifo of Edo State.

On Sunday, APC Presidential Primaries Committee Chairman Senator Anyim Pius Anyim declared the results at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja: Tinubu secured 10,999,967 votes while Osifo got 16,503.

Dominant state results

Tinubu won overwhelmingly nationwide, with Osifo failing to record a single vote in several states:

Ogun: 322,485 vs 0

Osun: 100,880 vs 0

Gombe: 450,517 vs 0

Rivers: 280,468 vs 0

Zamfara: 321,579 vs 42

Bayelsa: 277,192 vs 5

Ebonyi: 207,579 vs 0

State governors who acted as collation officers said the process was peaceful, transparent, and orderly.

Tinubu cast his ballot in Ward L2, Ikoyi, Lagos, polling 4,996 of 5,163 registered APC members in the ward. He described the primary as proof of the party’s internal democracy.

President Tinubu and First Lady Senator Remi Tinubu have since arrived in Abuja for the presentation of his certificate of return and the APC flag as the party’s flagbearer for 2027.

The APC has now finalized its ticket, while the opposition ADC continues to grapple with internal disputes before its primary scheduled for Monday.
