TINUBU APPOINTS TUNJI DISU AS ACTING IGP, REPLACES EGBETOKUN.

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Tunji Disu as the new Acting Inspector-General of Police, replacing Kayode Egbetokun who resigned citing family matters. The ceremony took place at the State House in Abuja, with notable attendees including National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila. 

Tunji Disu, a veteran police officer with over 34 years of experience, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role. He previously served as Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Lagos. Disu is known for his strong educational background, with a Bachelor’s degree in English Education and two Master’s degrees in Public Administration and Criminology, Security, and Legal Psychology.

In his new role, Disu has vowed to prioritize the welfare of police officers, tackle banditry, and uphold human rights. He emphasized the importance of public cooperation, stating that “no police anywhere in the world can succeed without the cooperation of members of the public”.
