A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of nine suspects accused of involvement in the June 13, 2025, Yelwata community attack, which killed approximately 150 people. The suspects, including Ardo Lawal Mohammed Dono and Alhaji Haruna Abdullahi, pleaded not guilty to 57 terrorism-related charges.

The Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), applied for an accelerated hearing, citing the severity of the case. The court adjourned till February 26, pending determination of the defendants’ bail applications.

The prosecution alleges the suspects planned and executed the attack, recruiting members and acquiring weapons. The defendants face charges under the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, with penalties including life imprisonment.
