Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army under Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke detained five suspected armed men in Karim Lamido LGA, Taraba State, on Thursday, June 4, 2026. The arrests followed a distress alert over attacks on communities in the area.

Acting on the report, soldiers from Forward Operating Base Karim Lamido moved in quickly. They met resistance from unidentified gunmen who opened fire. The troops engaged, forcing the attackers to flee in different directions, then tracked and apprehended five of them.

Recovered from the suspects were two motorcycles, machetes, daggers, various charms, gunpowder, and five phones. The items have been secured for investigation.

Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Michael Akaliro, Commander 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, commended the soldiers for their discipline and bravery. He restated the Chief of Army Staff’s instruction that troops must remain watchful, keep up operations against criminal networks, and block their movement within the brigade’s zone.

The commander also reassured Taraba residents that the brigade will keep pressing against threats to peace and security until calm is fully restored across the state.
