Sri Lanka is celebrating its 78th National Independence Day, with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake highlighting the country’s significant economic progress in the past 18 months. In a message, the President emphasized the nation’s clean and principled political culture and outlined plans to ensure the benefits of economic gains reach all communities across the country.

The President also reflected on the nation’s resilience in overcoming a recent major natural disaster and reaffirmed the commitment to building a more advanced, resilient, and dignified nation while safeguarding its culture, history, and heritage. He invited all citizens to join in unity and brotherhood to build ‘A Thriving Nation – A Beautiful Life’.
