Security personnel in Plateau State have carried out operations in Bassa Local Government Area that resulted in the rescue of kidnapped victims and the recovery of livestock and cattle linked to separate incidents.

In one incident, personnel responded to a report of alleged destruction of an irrigation farm in Zobwo village on May 6. After assessing the scene, they moved to a nearby settlement at Tafi Gana, where individuals reportedly fled on sighting the team. Thirty-four cattle were recovered and moved to a secure location for further handling. Authorities said calm has since returned to the area and investigations are underway to establish the circumstances of the farm damage and ownership of the livestock.

In a separate operation, security personnel rescued 32 people held captive, including 10 women, nine men, and 13 children. During the same action, 26 livestock—14 cattle and 12 sheep—were also recovered. No personnel were reported injured, though one armoured vehicle experienced overheating and was quickly stabilised by a repair team on site.

Officials said all rescued individuals and recovered items are in custody pending handover to the appropriate local authorities. Identified logistics and support structures linked to criminal activity were also dismantled during the operation. Clearance efforts are ongoing in the area to track fleeing suspects and limit their movement across affected communities.
