Security forces in Enugu State have arrested suspected gunmen and recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition.

Officials said the operation led to the seizure of a rocket launcher, 17 AK-47 rifles, and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition. Authorities stated that the arrests followed intelligence-led raids targeting criminal hideouts within the state.

Security agencies explained that the recovered weapons were believed to be intended for violent operations that would threaten residents and public infrastructure. The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue to trace the origin and intended use of the arms.

Residents have commended the operation, noting that removing such weapons from circulation is critical to improving safety in communities. Officials said efforts are ongoing to dismantle other criminal networks operating in the region.
