
Nigeria President Bola Tinubu and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz have agreed to strengthen bilateral relations between Nigeria and Germany, focusing on security, power, and railway development. Key areas of collaboration include:
- Power Transmission: Nigeria will receive assistance with power transmission under the Presidential Power Initiative, with Siemens providing technical support and Deutsche Bank financing the project.
- Security: The leaders expressed concern over the Sahel region’s deteriorating security situation, with Tinubu requesting used helicopters for intelligence reconnaissance.
- Creative Arts and Skill Development: Both countries will cooperate in creative arts and skill development, with Germany proposing the establishment of a Great Museum of African Arts.
- Railway Development: The two leaders also agreed to strengthen cooperation in railway development.
Diplomatic relations between Nigeria and Germany span 65 years, with Germany eagerly awaiting Nigeria’s new ambassador.
