The Presidency, through Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi, has dismissed former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s letter to the National Security Adviser (NSA) on alleged Thallium Sulphate procurement as a plait to divert attention from corruption allegations. Ajayi claims El-Rufai is facing allegations of N432 billion financial impropriety in Kaduna State and has been invited by anti-graft agencies.

Ajayi accuses El-Rufai of spreading misinformation and attempting to create political instability. He says there’s no evidence of Thallium Sulphate procurement or importation through the NSA’s office and that El-Rufai has already received a response from the NSA’s office but is withholding it.

The move is seen as El-Rufai’s bid to shift focus from corruption allegations and revive his waning political influence in Kaduna State, according to Ajayi. The Presidency urges him to address allegations through proper channels instead of “political theatrics”.
