The Imo State Police Command has dismissed three police officers for their involvement in armed robbery, kidnapping, and car snatching. The officers, Sergeant Ito Ikechukwu, Sergeant Ekwueme Gift, and Corporal Divine Oguaru, were found guilty of impersonating members of the Tiger Base Unit and committing the crimes on February 8, 2026, along Mbaise Road in Owerri.

Commissioner of Police Audu Bosso stated that the officers were promptly apprehended, investigated, and dismissed in line with disciplinary procedures. A civilian accomplice, Elias Chukwu, who acted as the driver, was also charged alongside the dismissed officers. The stolen vehicle was tracked to the Owerri-Onitsha Road, leading to the suspects’ arrest.
Bosso reiterated the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption and unprofessional conduct, directing the Legal Department to ensure the suspects’ immediate arraignment in court. “It will no longer be business as usual for erring officers in this command,” he warned. The public is urged to provide credible information to aid the Command’s efforts to sanitize the system.
