The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspected cult members and recovered a firearm at The Polytechnic, Ibadan. Acting on a tip-off, police operatives swooped in and apprehended Lawal Opeyemi, 31, and Olaniyan Opeyemi, 29, both from Apete area, Ibadan.

The duo, allegedly members of the Eiye Secret Cult Confraternity, were found with a locally-made double-barrel pistol, two live cartridges, and charms. Preliminary investigations suggest they were involved in cult-related clashes on campus.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna, has directed the suspects be handed over to the Anti-Cultism Unit for further investigation. He commended the school authorities for sharing credible information and the police team for their swift response.

The police are urging parents and guardians to warn their children against joining secret societies, emphasizing their zero-tolerance stance against cultism and violent crimes.
