The Nigeria Police Force has arrested three major members of a notorious armed robbery and car-snatching syndicate that has been terrorizing residents of Kaduna State and the Federal Capital Territory.

In a statement released on Saturday, August 30, 2026, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, said operatives of the Special Tactical Squad, STS, carried out coordinated operations between August 14 and August 19, 2026, based on actionable intelligence.

Those arrested are Ahmed Saidu, also known as Diamond ‘M’; Alex Gabriel, also known as Junior ‘M’; and Ahmed Mahudu, also known as Diamond ‘M’. The police said the suspects were behind a series of armed robberies involving the snatching of vehicles at gunpoint across Kaduna and Abuja.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement and named one Yakubu Yewa, also known as Y/Come, as the kingpin of the group. Investigations revealed that Yakubu Yewa is currently in custody at the Kuje Correctional Centre, where he is standing trial for armed robbery.

Authorities further revealed that the alleged kingpin was the one coordinating and directing the syndicate’s operations, including the disposal of stolen vehicles both within Nigeria and outside the country.

In the course of the operation, police operatives recovered two vehicles: one red Toyota Corolla and one army-colour Volkswagen Golf 3.

The Nigeria Police Force said it remains committed to dismantling criminal networks, protecting lives and property, and ensuring that those behind violent crimes face the full weight of the law.
