Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have rescued Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, three days after they were abducted in Ibadan. The rescue happened around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

Mrs. John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power Chief Adebayo Adelabu, was kidnapped alongside the twins on June 3, 2026, while driving them to school in the Elewura-Challenge area of Ibadan South West LGA. Police said sustained intelligence tracking and tactical pressure forced the kidnappers into a confrontation with operatives.
During the exchange, two suspected kidnappers were neutralised and two firearms were recovered from the gang. The victims were rescued unharmed and have been placed in safe custody for medical checks and support.
Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, said the operation was carried out by the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team after days of surveillance and intelligence gathering. He added that security teams are still combing nearby areas for fleeing gang members, some believed to have escaped with gunshot injuries.
Governor Seyi Makinde had earlier visited Adelabu on Friday to assure the family of intensified rescue efforts. The Inspector-General of Police commended the FID-IRT operatives for their professionalism and courage during the mission.
