The Nigeria Police Force says it has broken up a notorious kidnapping gang linked to a string of abductions and killings along the FCT–Nasarawa border.

Between June 24 and June 26, 2026, operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Special Tactical Squad, FID-STS, arrested two suspected members in coordinated raids across Gbagalape in the FCT, Mararaba in Nasarawa State, and Abuja. The suspects were named as 25-year-old Buhari Adamu and 28-year-old Abubakar Saidu.

Investigators said the group was behind the May 16, 2026 attack on Gbagalape, a border community where several residents were kidnapped and others shot dead or injured. Police added that some victims were killed after ransom demands were made.
A search of the gang’s hideout in Gbagalape Hills yielded one AK-47 rifle, 22 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 14 cows and 3 sheep believed to be proceeds of crime.
Both suspects are cooperating with investigators, and a manhunt is underway for other members still at large.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, said the Force will sustain intelligence-led operations against violent networks nationwide. He praised the FID-STS team and urged citizens to share timely information to aid crime prevention.
