Troops under Operation ENDURING PEACE have carried out a series of raids across Plateau, killing suspected insurgents, intercepting weapons and taking a motorcycle rider into custody between June 26 and July 2, 2026.

On the morning of Friday, June 26, Sector 6 moved on Gero Highground in Jos South after alerts of terrorist movement.
As the unit advanced, fighters opened fire from a position where animals were being used as cover. The soldiers paused, requested backup, and with reinforcements on ground the gunmen pulled back.

Troops chased the retreating group, gunned down several of them and pushed others into the bush. A sweep of the area followed to clear remaining elements and break up suspected camps.
Later that same day, around 10:00 a.m., Sector 5 personnel at Maijanki flagged down a bike coming from Kuba in Bokkos LGA. Two passengers on board threw a bag on the road and fled into the scrub.
Soldiers picked up the bag, held the rider, and found three locally manufactured rifles inside. The rider told interrogators he conveyed the men from Kuba without knowing their destination. The rider, bike and arms are being processed for investigation.
On Tuesday, June 30, intelligence of a massing of terrorists around Rafin Bauna/Gero mountains led to a coordinated ambush. Five insurgents were killed in the firefight and the rest scattered, abandoning their mission.
Military checks and accounts from locals suggested some of those killed were linked to past attacks in Jos South and Bassa LGAs and were on the command’s watch list.
NIPSS perimeter breach foiled
In the early hours of Thursday, July 2, at about 12:10 a.m., gunmen cut through a low fence at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies in Kuru, Jos South. Troops on sentry duty engaged them, killing one while others escaped.
The deceased was transferred to police. Weapons and rounds recovered are in custody as patrols around NIPSS were stepped up.
