Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has formally sworn in 3,933 newly recruited primary healthcare workers into the state workforce. The induction ceremony took place at the Orientation and Unveiling of the Operational Guidelines Program held at Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall, University College Hospital, Ibadan.

Governor Makinde stated that the recruitment drive is aimed at bridging the human resource gap in the health sector, improving worker-to-population ratios, reducing workload, and enhancing service quality and patient satisfaction.

“This recruitment is a key component of our strategy to revamp the healthcare system in Oyo State,” Makinde said. “We are committed to prioritizing the welfare of our healthcare workers and providing them with the necessary resources to deliver quality care to our citizens.”

The Governor also announced plans to renovate and equip at least one standard secondary healthcare facility in each geopolitical zone of the state, saying that healthcare delivery is at the heart of the state’s development agenda.

Makinde urged the new healthcare workers to deliver their best, assuring them that the government would provide everything necessary for them to perform effectively.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the former Deputy Governor, Hamid Gbadamosi; Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin; and representatives of the World Health Organisation and the Nigeria Medical Association.
