Governor Seyi Makinde has confirmed that one of the seven teachers kidnapped in Ahoro-Esinele, Oriire LGA, was killed while in captivity. The governor said a video received by authorities confirmed the death of the mathematics teacher.

Makinde stated that security forces, including the military, police, Amotekun, and local hunters, are carrying out coordinated operations to locate and free the other abductees. He added that some operatives were injured by IEDs during the rescue effort but are now receiving treatment and improving.

Six suspects linked to the kidnapping network have been arrested for allegedly acting as informants and logistics providers. The governor said both military and non-military approaches are being used, and urged the public to stay calm as operations continue.
