Tension erupted in Osogbo, Osun State, after supporters of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Accord Party clashed, leaving one person dead and several others injured.

The violent confrontation reportedly broke out during a political gathering in the state capital. Eyewitnesses said arguments between the two groups quickly escalated, leading to physical attacks and the use of dangerous weapons.
Security operatives later intervened to restore calm in the area. The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed, while the injured victims are said to be receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
Police authorities in Osun have confirmed the incident and warned political actors against acts of violence as the 2026 governorship election approaches. The Commissioner of Police urged party leaders to caution their supporters and allow law enforcement to handle disputes peacefully.
This latest clash adds to concerns over rising political tension in Osun ahead of the governorship poll. Authorities say investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible for the attack.
