Senator Ovie Omo-Age has left the All Progressives Congress and joined the National Democratic Congress, announcing his bid to reclaim the Delta Central Senatorial seat in 2027.

The former Deputy President of the Senate made the announcement on Thursday in a statement, saying the move came after extensive consultations with supporters and political leaders nationwide. He said the decision reflects a growing demand in Delta for leadership that prioritizes accountability and results.

Omo-Age thanked key NDC figures, including Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Seriake Dickson, and Moses Cleopas, for engaging him and building what he described as a people-first alternative. He accused successive Delta governments of wasting the state’s oil wealth and federal allocations on projects that have not improved living standards.

“I will not go to Abuja to warm the bench,” he said. “As your senator, my focus will be on delivering representation that matters. I will push for fair allocation of federal projects, job creation, SME support, and better healthcare and education.”

He pledged to strengthen the NDC from the ward level upward and present a credible slate of candidates for 2027. Omo-Age represented Delta Central in the Senate from 2015 to 2023 and was the APC governorship candidate in Delta in 2023.
